The Drow

Eons ago ago, in the early years of the world, during the war between demons and gods, the elves were forced to pick a side. The demons had created the elven people, and of all the species they were the closest to the demons. There were two factions, the elveste, which would later be bastardized by mankind into elves, and the heklosdrow, later shortened to simply “Drow”. the elveste wished to ally with the demons in resistance against the godly invaders, however the heklosdrow believed the gods would free their eternal souls from demonic subjugation. While the Elveste won the ensuing civil war and forced the heklosdrow underground, they were utterly decimated by a plague almost immediately following their banishment. The drow spent many long years starving and infighting beneath the surface of the world, believing the gods hadn’t even noticed their plight. However, they were wrong. One god, the goddess of secrets and shadow, Lolth. Lolth came across a people destroyed by famine and war, and saved them. They learned to rule over the weaker species of the underdark, to harvest fungi and carve citadels out of the caverns beneath the earth. But like most weaker demigods, the goddess of secrets was changed by her worshippers. The drow were a people built upon strength and treachery, after so many years in the lightless underworld. Lolth is now a master of treachery and shadows, leading her people to revenge against the Elves
